Awards

The AIAA Lawrence Sperry Award was received by Iain Boyd. The award was presented at the AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting held in Reno in January 1998.

Visitors

Dr. Savino Longo from the University of Bari in Italy visited through a grant from the Italian government. Savino worked on development of particle and Monte Carlo methods to analyze chemical kinetics in plasmas used for materials processing and in nonequilibrium gas dynamics. Dr. Sergey Gimelshein from the Siberian Academy of Sciences of Novosibirsk in Russia visited for two 3-month stays. Sergey worked on adding detailed thermochemical models to our DSMC code (MONACO).
